One Dead and One Injured in an Accident Involving a Sewage Truck Near the 405 Freeway in Costa Mesa, Orange County, California

Costa Mesa, CA — A fatal crash involving a sewage vacuum tanker truck and an SUV occurred Monday morning. The incident happened at West Sunflower Avenue and Fairview Road, near the 405 Freeway.

According to reports, the tanker truck driver ran a red light and was struck by an SUV.

Authorities confirmed the tanker truck’s driver died at the scene after the vehicle overturned during the collision.

The SUV driver was transported to a local hospital, with their condition currently unknown.

The moments leading up to the crash need to be investigated

After a serious truck crash, victims often face life-changing injuries while grappling with a lack of information about what happened. The details initially provided may seem insufficient, leaving them feeling alone and without support. However, professionals trained in investigating accidents can help uncover the full story beyond what authorities may offer, providing the injured with clarity and closure.

In these cases, trucking companies can provide crucial insights, such as dash cam footage and performance data (e.g., speed and braking), to give a more complete picture of the events leading up to the crash.

It’s worth noting that many truck accidents occur due to driver error or mechanical issues. Some drivers may believe that operating a larger vehicle allows them to disregard traffic laws. In one case we’re handling in Kentucky, a truck driver backed into a parking lot, blocking both lanes of traffic without the right of way. Despite seeing an oncoming car, the driver assumed it would stop. This poor decision resulted in the tragic loss of a child’s father, leaving his parents devastated. As expected, the driver and the company attempted to shift blame onto the victim for not stopping in time. However, while all drivers must stay alert, large trucks cannot ignore traffic laws or obstruct vehicles and then fault the other party for the collision.

Uncovering the truth after an accident gives the injured the answers they need and helps prevent future tragedies involving negligent drivers and companies. We hope the injured parties receive the support they need to uncover the facts and find closure in this difficult time.
