Construction Worker Killed, One Injured in a Semi-truck Accident on Route 581 in Cumberland County, Pennsylvania


CAMP HILL, Pa. – A construction worker was killed and another injured Monday morning following a four-vehicle crash on Route 581, Pennsylvania State Police confirmed.

The crash occurred as a construction vehicle was removing traffic cones from a closed right lane within an active work zone. Authorities say a FedEx double tractor-trailer, traveling in the left lane, veered into the closed lane and struck the rear of the construction vehicle. The impact caused a chain-reaction crash involving two additional vehicles, including one struck by debris.

Two workers were inside the construction vehicle at the time. Both were taken to a nearby hospital, where one was pronounced dead. The second worker sustained moderate injuries.

No further information is currently available.
