Construction Worker Injured by Rebar in a Riverbank, California, Costco Worksite Accident


RIVERBANK, CA — Emergency crews from Modesto, Stanislaus, and Turlock responded to a workplace accident Friday afternoon at the Costco parking lot in Riverbank.

Fire officials say a construction worker was severely injured after falling from scaffolding and becoming impaled by a piece of rebar. Firefighters found the worker conscious and alert.

Truck 1 personnel performed the extraction by accessing the area beneath the injured worker and using a handheld circular saw to cut the rebar, allowing for safe, careful removal.

The worker was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment. His condition has not been publicly released.

Scaffolding worksite accidents must be investigated
