Juan Carlos Lopez Killed in a Work Accident at a Metal Recycling Facility in Holly Hill, South Carolina


HOLLY HILL, S.C. — A 23-year-old man was killed Thursday in an industrial accident at a metal recycling facility in Holly Hill.

Officials confirmed the incident occurred at DCC Metal Recycling, where the worker was performing maintenance on a piece of equipment when a component fell, striking him in the chest. The coroner reported the man died at the scene from blunt force injuries.

The victim was identified as Juan Carlos Lopez of Orangeburg.

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) has been notified.

The surviving family deserves to know what went wrong at the work site
