William Bunnell Killed in an Accident Involving a Dump Truck in Hancock County, Indiana

Hancock County, Ind. — A collision involving a dump truck and a van claimed the life of a Lapel man on Thursday.

Authorities report that a Freightliner dump truck was traveling northbound on County Road 50 West, with a stop sign for northbound traffic. The dump truck pulled into the intersection and struck a Chevrolet van traveling west on State Road 234, which did not have a stop sign. The impact left the van’s driver trapped inside the vehicle.

Emergency responders pronounced the driver of the van, 58-year-old William Bunnell of Lapel, dead at the scene.

Truck Drivers must adhere to traffic rules

It is unjust when a person follows all the safety rules on the road and another driver decides to ignore them, leading to a catastrophic collision.
