Drinkmate Recalls Defective 1-Liter Carbonation Bottles Due to Risk of Explosion and Injury


ANN ARBOR, Mich. – Drinkmate has recalled its 1-liter carbonation bottles after reports that the bottles can explode during use, posing serious risks of impact injuries, lacerations, and hearing damage.

The recall involves 1-liter bottles with a clear polyethylene terephthalate (PET) body and red, blue, white, or black plastic caps and bases. Affected bottles have expiration dates ranging from January 2026 through October 2026, printed on the side. They were sold individually and as part of some Drinkmate OmniFizz starter kits.

Drinkmate has received reports of bottles exploding, resulting in injuries such as cuts, impact trauma, and hearing damage.
