Defective DT Swiss Recalls Defective Carbon Road Wheels Over Risk of Crash


GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. – DT Swiss has recalled specific carbon fiber road wheels after discovering a defect that may weaken the rim and create a crash hazard.

The recall applies to:

  • Wheel models: ERC 35mm/45mm, CRC 35mm/45mm, HEC 35mm/45mm, and ARC 50mm/55mm/65mm
  • Products are sold both as aftermarket wheels and as original equipment on various high-end road bicycles
  • All wheels with DT Swiss ID code 2740000 or higher
  • The DT Swiss ID code and model code are shown on a small label on the outside of the rim
  • Recall number: 25-445

The wheels were sold nationwide through independent bicycle dealers and as factory-installed components from September 2024 through July 2025, at prices ranging from $1,000 to $1,880.

DT Swiss has received six reports of the outer carbon layer separating at the rim flange.
