One Person Injured in a Rear-end Semi-Truck Accident on Interstate-75 Near Interstate-94 in Detroit, Michigan

Detroit, Mich. — A semi-truck hauling gravel rear-ended a car on I-75 Tuesday afternoon, triggering a rollover crash, according to Michigan State Police.

According to reports, the crash happened when the truck driver was unable to stop in time and struck the rear of a passenger car. The impact caused the semi to roll onto an embankment, hitting a bridge abutment, with two of its trailers coming to rest across all but the left lane of the freeway.

The passenger car was trapped between the two trailers. The driver of that vehicle was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment of a visible head injury.

Truck Drivers Must Be Held Accountable When Basic Safety Rules Are Ignored

Commercial truck drivers are familiar with the basic rule of maintaining a safe distance from the car ahead. Yet, time and again, we see devastating crashes like this one caused by truckers ignoring this fundamental safety practice.

We now have an injured person who will likely face medical expenses, financial losses, trauma, and injuries they never expected from a routine drive on the road. This is why large trucks cannot disregard traffic safety rules, and when they do, they should be held accountable for the harmful consequences of their actions.

Unfortunately, when crashes like these occur, trucking companies often work quickly to limit their responsibility and downplay the outcome. Having experienced legal representation is important in overcoming these tactics and protecting the injured party’s rights.

We hope the injured person makes a full recovery.
