Two People Injured in a Semi-truck Tire Blowout Accident on Interstate 75 in Ocala, Florida

OCALA, Fla. — Two people were hospitalized Wednesday afternoon after a southbound semi hauling corn blew a tire, crossed the median into northbound traffic, and overturned on Interstate 75 just north of the Silver Springs Boulevard (State Road 40) exit.

According to reports, the semi collided with a Honda Civic and three other semis. Ocala Fire Rescue reported the two occupants of the Honda were transported as trauma alerts to a local hospital.

An inspection of the tire will determine what caused it to fail

When a tire failure leads to a crash involving a commercial truck and passenger vehicle, the tire must be carefully examined by qualified professionals to answer important questions, such as: Was the tire worn or improperly maintained? Was there a manufacturing defect?

These questions are essential to determining every party that may be responsible for the fatal injuries in this crash and to ensuring the surviving family knows who must be held accountable.

Some tires should never be on the road at all — defects can cause them to fail without warning, putting every motorist around them in danger. A detailed inspection can reveal whether this failure was the result of poor maintenance, inadequate inspections, or a defect that existed when the tire was manufactured.

Two people were hurt: they deserve answers and full justice.
