Safety 1st Recalls Allegedly Defective Décor Wood Highchairs Due to Fall and Injury Risk


CANTON, Mass. — Safety 1st has announced a recall of several models of its Décor Wood highchairs after reports that children can remove the tray, creating a risk of falling.

The recall covers three models: HC144BZF (Casablanca), HC229CZF (Gentle Lace), and HC229CYG (Black Lace). The model number is located on a label beneath the seat. These A-frame wood highchairs feature a black finish, a removable black-and-white patterned seat pad with either blue or pink trim, and a detachable white plastic tray with a cone-shaped center divider. “Safety 1st” appears on the front of the tray.

The company has received 68 reports of trays being removed by children, including 11 incidents involving injuries.
