Ford Recalls Nearly 273,000 Allegedly Defective Trucks and Cars Over Potential Rollaway and Crash Hazard


Ford Motor Company is recalling nearly 273,000 vehicles after identifying a problem that could allow certain vehicles to roll away, increasing the risk of a crash.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the recall covers select Ford vehicles equipped with an electronic parking system that may not adequately secure the vehicle when shifted into park. If the system fails, the vehicle could move unexpectedly.

The affected models include certain Ford F-150 Lightning battery-electric pickup trucks, Mustang Mach-E vehicles, and Maverick pickups from recent model years.

Federal regulators said the issue stems from a software problem within the integrated parking module, which may prevent the system from fully engaging the park function.

The recall is identified by Ford as number 25C69.
