One Person Injured in a Semi-truck Accident on Highway 412 Near 265th East Avenue in Oklahoma

OKLAHOMA — A collision between a semi-truck and a pickup on Highway 412 near 265th East Avenue left one person injured on Wednesday morning.

According to authorities, a semi-truck hauling approximately 70,000 pounds of produce missed the entrance to the Will Rogers Turnpike. The truck continued east on Highway 412 and attempted to make a U-turn. During that maneuver, the semi turned into the path of an oncoming pickup traveling eastbound, leading to a collision.

The driver of the pickup suffered injuries that were not considered life-threatening.

Why Dangerous Decisions by Commercial Truck Drivers Deserve Scrutiny After a Crash

Why would a truck operator decide to attempt such a dangerous maneuver after missing an exit? Commercial drivers are trained to know that missing a turn is not an emergency. Attempting a U-turn on a highway, especially while hauling tens of thousands of pounds of cargo, puts everyone on the road at risk, as this crash demonstrates.

Company culture and expectations often influence how a driver reacts in situations like this. It is important to examine whether the truck driver received proper training and how the trucking company’s policies, delivery pressures, and route planning may have shaped the decision-making that led to this incident.

These details matter for the injured person, who was doing what so many of us take for granted every day — driving on public roadways with the expectation that others will follow the rules and make safe choices.

This individual has suffered injuries and will likely face ongoing challenges related to those injuries. That is unfair, and those responsible should be held accountable.

Our hope is that the injured person makes a full recovery and finds clear answers about what went wrong.
