Achilles ATR Sport 2 Tires Recalled Due to Improper Identification Number Formatting that can Lead to a Crash


WASHINGTON — More than 83,000 tires are being recalled after federal officials determined that the Tire Identification Number (TIN) on specific models was improperly formatted, making the tires noncompliant with federal safety requirements.

TBK has recalled specific Achilles ATR Sport 2 tires because the TIN exceeds the allowed length and cannot be properly registered. As a result, the tires fail to meet federal identification and recordkeeping standards.

Officials warn that without the ability to register the tires, consumers may not receive future safety recall notifications, increasing the risk of operating a tire with an undiscovered defect.

The recall involves the following tire sizes:
• 245/50ZR20
• 245/45R17
• 225/55ZR18
• 295/25ZR21
