Two People Seriously Injured in a Multi-Vehicle Accident Involving Semi-trucks on Highway 97 in La Pine, Oregon

LA PINE, Ore. — A four-vehicle crash involving two semi-trucks left two people seriously injured Wednesday afternoon, according to Oregon State Police. The collision occurred near 1st Street.

According to reports, a white semi-truck struck the rear of a white Dodge pickup, causing the pickup to rotate into oncoming traffic, where it collided with the rear axle of a red semi-truck. The Dodge then caught fire, and both occupants were transported to the hospital with serious injuries.

OSP reported that the white semi continued forward and collided with a car trailer being towed by a black Ford pickup.

The injured and their family deserves answers and justice

We don’t have all the details except that an 18-wheeler slammed into a passenger pick-up truck, and now two people are seriously injured. What caused this to happen? And why did the commercial truck continue forward and collide with another vehicle? These are serious questions that need to be answered beyond what the initial police report finds.

Crashes this serious rarely happen by chance. They often stem from preventable mistakes, driver error, mechanical issues arising from poor maintenance, and, too often, a company culture that does not prioritize safety.

But drivers and trucking companies will not readily admit to their failures. After handling cases like this for decades, one pattern is clear: trucking companies will often try to deflect blame onto the occupants of the disabled vehicle rather than accept responsibility. That is not only unfair but also unjust. Commercial trucks must be operated with heightened caution and properly inspected before hitting the road. When this does not happen, they should be held accountable.

Accidents like this bring many tears. They bring medical debt that grows by the day. They bring injuries that do not heal quickly. They bring lost income, lost stability, and lost memories that will never be made. In times like these, having experienced legal professionals who understand complex truck cases is essential to securing the justice the injured deserve.
