Ford Recalls Nearly 73,000 Vehicles Due to Rear-View Camera Defect


Ford Motor Company has issued a safety recall for nearly 73,000 vehicles following concerns about malfunctioning rear-view cameras, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).

The recall affects approximately 72,624 vehicles, including over 21,000 Ford Expedition SUVs manufactured between January 4 and March 31, 2021.

According to the NHTSA, the defect may cause the rear-view camera to intermittently display a blank or blurry screen or no image at all, creating potential safety hazards when reversing. Ford attributes the issue to a problem with the camera components.

While the malfunction is estimated to impact about 2% of the recalled vehicles, Ford dealers have been alerted to inspect and repair affected units. Owners are expected to receive official recall notices by mail between February 17 and February 21.

Vehicle owners can visit the NHTSA website and enter their license plate or VIN to determine if their car is subject to this or any other safety recall.
