Honda Recalls Nearly 295,000 Vehicles Due to Stalling Risk


Torrance, CA – Honda has issued a recall for 294,612 vehicles due to a software issue that could cause the engine to stall unexpectedly, increasing the risk of a crash, particularly in heavy traffic.

The recall affects the following models:

  • 2022 – 2025 Acura MDX Type-S
  • 2021 – 2025 Acura TLX Type-S
  • 2023 – 2025 Honda Pilot

The issue stems from a software error in the Electronic Control Unit (ECU), which manages engine operation. A glitch in the programming may cause the engine to lose power if the accelerator is pressed suddenly. A stalled vehicle can become a hazard, increasing the likelihood of a collision. In some cases, the malfunction indicator light (MIL) may illuminate the dashboard.

Honda will notify affected owners by mail, with letters expected to be sent by March 17, 2025. Dealerships will update the ECU software at no cost to owners.
