Hyundai Recalls 1,508 2025 Ioniq 5 N Vehicles Over Braking Issue


Hyundai has issued a recall for 1,508 model year 2025 Ioniq 5 N high-performance electric SUVs due to a software issue that may reduce braking effectiveness. According to documents filed with federal safety regulators, the problem affects the vehicle’s “left-foot braking” function, which allows drivers to use both the accelerator and brake pedals simultaneously during certain driving maneuvers.

The automaker reports that a software malfunction can cause the left-foot braking function to depressurize the antilock braking system (ABS). While the brakes remain operational, drivers may need to apply more force than expected, potentially increasing stopping distance and raising the risk of an accident.

To resolve the issue, Hyundai dealers will update the software at no cost to owners. Until the update is completed, Hyundai advises drivers to avoid using the left-foot braking function. Software updates for recalls are typically quick service appointments.

Vehicle owners can check for any outstanding recalls by entering their VIN in Hyundai’s recall lookup tool.
