Igloo Recalls Over One Million Coolers Due to Finger Amputation Hazard

Igloo has issued a recall for more than one million coolers following reports of serious injuries, including fingertip amputations, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) announced.

The recall was prompted by concerns that the cooler’s handle poses a risk of fingertip amputation and crushing injuries. Consumers are advised to stop using the affected coolers immediately and contact Igloo for a free replacement handle.

The CPSC has received 12 reports of fingertip injuries, including amputations, bone fractures, and lacerations. The recall applies to nearly 60 models identified by SKU numbers, descriptions, and date codes. The manufacturing date can be found on the bottom of the cooler, where an imprinted circle features an arrow pointing to the production month and two digits indicating the year.

The recalled coolers were sold between January 2019 and January 2025 at major retailers, including Costco, Target, Academy, Dick’s Sporting Goods, Amazon.com, and other stores nationwide.
