Jon Schuh Killed by Train in Workplace Accident in Davenport, Iowa

Davenport, Iowa — A 31-year-old Bettendorf man was killed Wednesday morning after being hit by a train near the Village of East Davenport. Police say the incident occurred in the 1700 block of East River Drive.

The victim, identified as Jon Schuh, was performing work at the Iowa American Water facility when he was struck by a BNSF Railway train operating on tracks owned by the Canadian Pacific Kansas City Railway.

Schuh was transported to a local hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries. Authorities have classified the incident as a workplace accident.

All factors that led to this accident need to come to light for justice for the family

Train and pedestrian accidents continue to occur across the country, raising serious concerns about safety at railroad crossings.

In this case, specific details remain unclear. A full investigation is crucial for the surviving family to understand what happened and determine their next steps. Key evidence—such as the actions and training of the train operator, onboard recordings, track conditions, and the safety of the crossing—can provide critical insight into whether safety protocols were followed and whether any negligence occurred. This information is essential for uncovering the truth and pursuing justice.

Additionally, safety protocols on the job site need to be carefully examined. What safety measures were implemented to prevent incidents like this from happening?

Even though certain jobs carry a higher danger than others, fatal injuries should never be accepted as normal. Every person deserves to return home to their family after a long day at work.

May Mr. Schuh’s surviving family find the answers, guidance, and resources needed to navigate this difficult time.
