Marion Mazurek Killed in a Semitruck Accident on M-53 in Lapeer County, Michigan

Lapeer County, Mich. — A 53-year-old Brown City man lost his life Monday afternoon in a collision with a semi-truck. The incident happened on M-53 near Wilcox Road in Burnside Township.

The Lapeer County Sheriff’s Office reported that the crash occurred when a northbound semi-truck encountered icy road conditions caused by strong west winds blowing snow across an open stretch of pavement.

The semi-truck lost control, jackknifed, and crossed the center line, colliding head-on with a southbound Mini Cooper driven by Marion Mazurek. Both vehicles ended up in the ditch on the west side of the road.

Mazurek was pronounced dead at the scene.

Weather conditions, including the snow and icy roads, were cited as the primary factors contributing to the crash.

Driving in adverse conditions should be avoided

Tragic crashes like these happen too often, leaving victims and their families to pick up the pieces while truck drivers and companies move on without consequence.
