Milos Jovanovic Killed by Falling Steel in a Manufacturing Plant Accident in Goshen, Indiana

Goshen, Ind. — A 36-year-old truck driver from Naperville, Illinois, lost his life while making a delivery at Lippert Components after being struck by a 5,000-pound bundle of steel tubing. The incident happened Wednesday morning.

Authorities identified the victim as Milos Jovanovic, an employee of a Chicago-based trucking company.

The incident occurred at Lippert’s Plant 45 as Jovanovic delivered steel tubing from his semi-truck. Police confirmed that the steel tubing struck Jovanovic’s entire body.

Medics treated Jovanovic before transferring him to a nearby airfield for a MedFlight transport. He was pronounced dead upon arrival at the airfield.

Records show that Plant 45 had previously been inspected in August 2023 due to a health-related concern.

An investigation is needed to determine what went wrong

A routine workday should never turn fatal. One man senselessly lost his life, and now, a family is left to mourn and seek answers regarding his final moments. Unfortunately, this is far too common.

Those in charge are responsible for maintaining an organized worksite with strong safety measures. This involves knowing where workers are in relation to operating equipment and machinery, setting up clear communication systems, and making sure everyone is thoroughly trained on safety protocols. So, what safety measures were in place at this site?

According to federal law, employees and contractors have the right to work in a safe environment. Companies must ensure their workplaces are free from hazards that could cause serious injury or death. If companies fail to uphold these standards, they must be held accountable to the families of those affected.

The surviving family should know if this accident could have been avoided with better planning. They deserve answers and justice for the unexpected passing of their loved one.
