Roofer Severely Burned in Electrical Fire Accident in Houston, Texas

Houston, TX – A roofing worker suffered severe electrical burns after a power line incident at a West Houston townhome community, according to the Houston Fire Department.

The incident occurred on Sugar Hill Drive, near Chimney Rock Road and San Felipe Street. Officials say an electrical current from a power line traveled through the building’s metal gutter system, sparking fires in multiple homes and injuring the worker.

The worker sustained extensive electrical burns and was transported to a hospital for treatment.

Authorities have not yet released the worker’s identity or further details about the cause of the accident.

An investigation is needed to determine what went wrong

No one should have to risk a serious, life-altering injury just by going to work—an injury that can not only change their life but also impact their family forever. The man injured here needs trained lawyers who can help him hold all wrongdoers responsible and obtain the compensation needed to move forward.

Unfortunately, work-related injuries are alarmingly common, with 4.3 million cases requiring medical attention in 2022 alone (U.S. Bureau of Statistics). This high number leads many to believe workplace accidents are unavoidable, but that is not the case. Federal law mandates that workers have a safe work environment, free from harm, regardless of the industry. Workplace accidents should never be accepted as normal.

Burn injuries, in particular, have devastating consequences: loss of income, severe pain and suffering, and overwhelming medical expenses. It is unjust for workers and their families to bear these burdens alone. If an employer’s negligence or wrongdoing caused the injury, they must be held accountable.

Too often, companies cut costs by failing to provide proper training or necessary equipment. But workers have rights—they must receive adequate training and the tools needed to work safely. Those in charge cannot neglect safety and avoid responsibility. When they prioritize profits over worker safety, they must be held accountable.

May the injured worker, in this case, receive the support and justice needed to move forward.
