Brandon Poff and One Other Injured in a Tire Blowout Accident in Adair County, Kentucky

Pellyton, KY – Two individuals were injured following a single-vehicle rollover accident on Liberty Road in the Pellyton community Monday morning.

The Adair County Sheriff’s Office reported that Brandon Poff, 34, was driving a 2008 Honda CRV east when a tire blew out. The blowout caused the driver to lose control and overturn the vehicle.

Poff was ejected from his vehicle and airlifted to UK Hospital in Lexington for treatment. A passenger in the car was transported to a local hospital by private vehicle.

We recently worked on a terrible crash involving a young lady who was killed while traveling with her boyfriend in a Chevy S-10. As the young man began to merge the vehicle off the freeway, the right rear-wheel tire blew out, causing him to lose control of the truck. The truck ended up rolling over, and despite the young lady properly wearing her seatbelt, her upper body was ejected from the vehicle. She passed away at the scene.

When the investigating officers arrived on the scene, they took pictures, created a report, and then went on their way, leaving the surviving family with many, many unanswered questions. One of the most important questions they had was why the tire failed.

When we investigated the accident, we found that the tire clearly had signs of defect that caused the tire to fail before it should have. This evidence clearly showed that the tire should not have failed when it did, the rollover should never have happened, and the young lady should never have passed away.

Determining if the tire in this crash was defective is of the utmost importance. The victims likely experienced life-changing injuries that they did not ask for. If the tire maker caused this crash by producing and selling a defective tire to innocent motorists, the company should be held responsible.
