Amin Mukbel Humaidi, Nadia Humaidi, Rajaa Humaidi, and One Other Killed, One Injured in a Head-On Accident with a Semi-truck on U.S. 24 in Paulding County, Ohio


Paulding County, OH – Authorities have confirmed that four members of a Fort Wayne family lost their lives in a crash on U.S. 24 in Paulding County. The accident occurred Friday night in Emerald Township.

According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol (OSHP), the collision happened when an eastbound semi-truck veered off the left side of the roadway, crossed the median, and collided head-on with an SUV traveling westbound.

The victims have been identified as Amin Mukbel Humaidi, Nadia Humaidi, Rajaa Humaidi, and one child. A fifth family member sustained serious injuries and was airlifted to a regional hospital for treatment.

Further details have not been released at this time.

What a sad, sad incident that could happen to any of us. What happened to cause this terrible accident? While most head-on collisions are caused by driver error (distraction, excessive speed, fatigue), there are instances where mechanical issues such as brake or steering malfunctions or sudden tire failure have contributed to the driver losing control. Did any of those factors play a role here?

If the collision was caused by human error, the driver should not have been behind the wheel. If a mechanical issue is the cause, the trucking company or manufacturer must provide an explanation.

Too many people have lost their lives through no fault of their own; the surviving family deserves answers and the opportunity to pursue accountability for the emotional and financial burdens they have been unfairly forced to bear.
