Kawasaki Recalls Over 40,000 John Deere Lawn Mowers Due to Fire Hazard


Kawasaki Motors has issued a recall for more than 40,000 John Deere ZTrak Zero-Turn Mowers equipped with Kawasaki engines, citing potential fire and burn risks. The recall was announced by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC).

The affected models include the Z720E, Z730M, Z740R, and Z760R. These green-and-yellow mowers, bearing the “John Deere” logo beneath the seat, have serial numbers near the rear tire on the right side.

According to Kawasaki, a defect in the engine’s voltage regulator may cause it to overheat, increasing the risk of fire or burns during operation or storage. The company has reported five incidents involving fires and 26 cases of melting or smoke, though no injuries have been reported as of yet.

Consumers are advised to discontinue using the recalled mowers immediately and contact an authorized John Deere dealer for a free repair. Approximately 39,000 units were sold across the U.S.
