Nissan Issues Recall for 2025 Kicks SUVs Over Rollaway Concern

Due to a potential rollaway risk, Nissan has announced a recall affecting 20 units of its newly released 2025 Kicks subcompact SUV. The issue arises from missing “Shift-to-Park” warnings, which could lead to unintended vehicle movement when parked.

According to details provided to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), the affected vehicles may fail to display the warning when the driver turns off the ignition. At the same time, the gear selector is not in the “Park” position and opens the driver-side door. This could result in the engine shutting off while the transmission remains in a position that allows movement, increasing the risk of a rollaway.

To resolve the issue, Nissan dealerships will update the Body Control Module to ensure the warning activates as intended. The repair process is expected to take approximately 30 minutes, and all recall-related fixes will be performed at no cost to vehicle owners.
