Costco Recalls Two Defective Tire Models Due to Risk of Crash and Injury


Costco is recalling two types of tires sold through its retail locations due to safety concerns that may increase the risk of a crash, according to official recall notices issued by Michelin and Bridgestone.

The recalled models include:

  • Michelin Agilis CrossClimate C-Metric Tires, Size 185/60R15C
  • Bridgestone Blizzak 6 Tires, Size 235/40R19

Michelin’s recall states that certain Agilis CrossClimate tires do not meet federal regulatory standards. Specifically, portions of the tread may detach from the shoulder block, potentially leading to loss of control while driving.

Bridgestone recalled specific Blizzak 6 tires due to a lack of the required Department of Transportation (DOT) certification symbol on the sidewall. According to the recall, missing DOT markings may allow the tires to be installed in unsuitable applications, thereby increasing the risk of crashes.

Consumers are advised to check for the following identifiers on Bridgestone Blizzak 6 tires: the brand “Bridgestone,” tire line “Blizzak 6,” size “235/40R19, and identification numbers “1VR100W122224,” “1VR100W122324,” or “1VR100W122424.”
