The Ammons Law Firm has filed a lawsuit against M.W. Rentals & Services, Inc. and DOS Oilfield Services, LLC following the death of a worker who was electrocuted at a remote oilfield worksite. According to the lawsuit, the worker suffered fatal injuries while performing maintenance on a generator powering a cooling shack.
The complaint alleges the decedent was electrocuted while attempting to install a Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter (GFCI) on a generator unit. The equipment was allegedly being used to supply electricity to a cooling area intended for use by DOS Oilfield Services employees. The lawsuit claims that the worksite lacked appropriate safeguards, and that the generator system was not managed in accordance with accepted safety practices.
The filing raises multiple claims against M.W. Rentals & Services, Inc., including failure to provide proper safety training related to electrical work and failure to ensure workers had access to personal protective equipment such as insulated gloves, safety glasses, and face shields. The lawsuit further contends that insulated tools were not made available to workers tasked with handling energized equipment.
Concerns are also raised regarding the siteās emergency preparedness. According to the complaint, no personnel trained in first aid or CPR were present, and the location allegedly lacked timely access to emergency medical services. The decedent was reportedly working in a rural area without adequate safety oversight or emergency protocols in place.
Shared Liability and Premises Control Allegations
In addition to allegations against the equipment provider, the lawsuit names DOS Oilfield Services, LLC as a co-defendant. The complaint states that DOS exercised control over the cooling shack and leased the generator used to power it. As an alleged occupier of the premises, DOS is accused of failing to maintain a safe environment or adequately warn about electrical hazards.
The legal filing also invokes the doctrine of res ipsa loquitur, asserting that electrocution of this nature typically does not occur without negligence involving equipment under the defendantsā control.
Claims of gross negligence are included, alleging that the conduct demonstrated an extreme degree of risk and conscious indifference to worker safety. The plaintiff seeks recovery for economic losses, pain and suffering, and exemplary damages where legally permitted.
