Two Injured in an RV Tire Blowout Accident on Interstate 10 Near Lake City, Florida

LAKE CITY, Fla. – A recreational vehicle crash on Interstate 10 near Lake City left two people injured, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The RV, which was towing a pickup truck, was headed eastbound when a right tire blew out. The blowout caused the driver to lose control, sending the vehicle off the roadway and into a tree.

Both the driver and the passenger suffered injuries from the collision.

RV tires that suffer a blowout must be examined for defects

When a tire blows out, it’s easy to assume it’s due to bad luck. However, while keeping your tires in good condition is important, sometimes tire failures happen because the tire is defective. When this occurs, the driver is not at fault; instead, responsibility lies with the manufacturer that produced the faulty tire.

Defective RV tires are more common than many people realize. For instance, in the last few years, more than 170,000 RV tires have been recalled due to defect risks that have led to numerous accidents, injuries, and fatalities nationwide. We have assisted many RV owners who have experienced serious accidents caused by defective tires still in use on our roads.

These tire incidents cannot continue to happen. Given RVs’ unique usage patterns, tire manufacturers need to ensure that RV tires are produced with the utmost care.

It’s a relief that no critical injuries seem to have been reported, and I hope all those involved recover fully. However, recovering from such an accident can be a long, challenging, and costly process. If the tire that caused this crash is found to be defective, those injured deserve fair and just compensation from the manufacturer to help cover their expenses and ease the difficulties of their recovery.
