Coleman Recalls Defective Converta Camping Cots and Suspension Stretchers Due to Laceration and Amputation Risk


WASHINGTON, D.C. — The Coleman Company, in coordination with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), has issued a recall for select Converta camping cots and Converta camping suspension stretchers. The recall was initiated after it was discovered that the backrest fold mechanism can catch and pinch users’ fingers, posing hazards of laceration and amputation.

Recalled Products Include:

  • Coleman Converta Camping Cots with model numbers 2000003077 and 2000020282
  • Coleman Converta Camping Suspension Stretchers with model number 2000020290
  • Model numbers are printed on a hang tag attached to the frame
  • Products have tan or white fabric with the Coleman logo printed on the material
  • Frames are made of black steel and feature adjustable seatbacks and leg positions

The company has received seven reports of injuries linked to the folding mechanism.
