Jesus Alfardo-Burboa Killed in Accident with a Semi-Truck on Highway 101 in Monterey County, California

MONTEREY COUNTY – A man died in a crash between a pickup and a semi-truck on Friday afternoon on northbound Highway 101 at Hartnell Road.

According to CHP’s preliminary findings, the Toyota pickup, driven by a 47-year-old Jesus Alfardo-Burboa, was heading northbound on Highway 101 as it approached Hartnell Road. At the same time, the semi-truck, operated by a 62-year-old Yuba City man, was traveling southbound and attempting to turn left onto Hartnell Road.

During the turn, the semi-truck crossed into the northbound lanes, and the right side of the trailer struck the front of the pickup.

Alfardo-Burboa sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The surviving family deserves justice and compensation

What a terrible accident. You can be doing everything right, following road rules, and someone else’s negligent actions can prove fatal. Anytime this happens, the party at fault must give the surviving family an account of the anguish they have caused them.

This crash was entirely preventable. The driver ignored fundamental traffic laws, and the trucking company failed to train and supervise its employee properly, allowing unsafe driving practices to persist. Now, they are trying to avoid responsibility. We are fighting to hold the trucking company accountable for its negligence.

The surviving family here also deserves accountability. Truck drivers and the companies they work for have a higher standard of conduct on the road. When they fail to meet conduct expectations, and these actions cause a loss of life, they have to answer to the family of the deceased.

The surviving family has a long road ahead. May they receive the answers and justice they deserve.
