Joseph Grammer Killed in Accident with Semi Truck Along Highway 18 in Polk County, Oregon

POLK COUNTY, Ore. — A motorcyclist was killed Sunday evening in a crash involving a semi truck along Highway 18, according to the Oregon State Police.

Preliminary findings indicate that an eastbound Freightliner semi and trailer was attempting a left turn into a gravel lot when it crossed into the path of a westbound Kawasaki ZX-18 motorcycle.

The motorcycle, operated by 50-year-old Joseph Grammer of Grand Ronde, collided with the side of the truck during the turn.

Grammer was pronounced dead at the scene.

Motorcyclists are among the most vulnerable motorists on the road. Unlike occupants of cars or trucks, they have little protection in the event of a crash.
