One Person Killed, Another Injured in a Motorcycle Tire Blowout Accident on State Highway 204 in Nacogdoches County, Texas

NACOGDOCHES COUNTY, Texas — One person is dead and another injured following a motorcycle crash Saturday afternoon along State Highway 204. Crews with the Lilbert-Looneyville Volunteer Fire Department responded to the scene in the 10100 block of SH-204.

Upon arrival, first responders found bystanders performing CPR on one of the motorcycle’s occupants while others assisted the driver.

Fire personnel took over life-saving efforts and began treating the driver, who Nacogdoches County EMS later transported to Nacogdoches Medical Center for further evaluation and care.

The passenger was pronounced dead at the scene.

Preliminary findings indicate that a rear tire blowout caused the driver to lose control of the motorcycle.

Tire failure accidents should be investigated

A motorcycle ride took a tragic turn when a tire suddenly failed. While tire failures seem like random mishaps, they are often linked to deeper issues.

Rear tire blowouts have been a known concern for specific motorcycle models. For instance, a recent recall of more than 65,000 motorcycles of one model type was conducted after a safety risk that could lead to accidents was identified. This recall addressed a faulty fastener securing the rear shock absorber, which could break, damage the rear tire, or cause a loss of tire pressure, increasing the chance of losing control. Could a similar issue have played a role in this incident?

A detailed investigation is crucial to determine whether safety protocols were followed correctly. If a product defect is found to have caused this crash, the manufacturer should be held accountable.

The unexpected loss of a loved one or dealing with severe injuries caused by such an incident brings immense grief and hardship, including emotional, physical, and financial challenges. When these tragedies result from manufacturer defects, victims and their families have the right to seek justice and hold those responsible accountable.
