Three People Injured in a Semi Truck, Two Vehicle Accident on South Preston Highway in Bullitt County, Louisville, Kentucky

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — A semi truck struck two vehicles before crashing into a bridge Monday night in Bullitt County, sending multiple people to the hospital.

Deputies responded to a report of a crash involving a semi at a bridge on South Preston Highway near Collings Hill Road.

Before striking the bridge, dispatchers received reports that the truck had hit a vehicle while heading north on Preston Highway. Moments later, an off-duty Shepherdsville Police officer reported the same truck had collided with a second vehicle on Wilson Creek Road.

The drivers of both vehicles and a passenger were transported to nearby hospitals. All are expected to survive.

The truck driver was charged with leaving the scene of an accident and failure to render aid.

The injured deserve accountability from all parties who share fault

Commercial trucks rule the road due to their size and weight. Because of their power, they have a higher responsibility to drive safely. When that responsibility is ignored and others are seriously injured as a result, both the truck driver and the company they work for should be held accountable.

Too often, trucking companies attempt to blame the driver solely, overlooking their own role in hiring, training, and supervising qualified drivers. But accountability doesn’t end with the person behind the wheel.

And for those injured in these crashes, the road to recovery can be long and difficult: these crashes often leave victims with serious, life-changing injuries, emotional trauma, and financial burdens from lost income and growing medical bills. This is why it is essential for all parties responsible for these preventable accidents to be held accountable.
