Thousands of Baby High Chairs, Loungers Recalled Over Suffocation Risk


Federal officials announced that thousands of baby high chairs and loungers are being recalled due to serious safety risks. The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) warns that the recalled products pose entrapment and suffocation hazards, violating federal safety regulations.

Costway is recalling its Babyjoy High Chairs, which feature a design that could lead to entrapment and suffocation. According to the CPSC, the chairs were marketed for infant sleep despite having an incline angle greater than 10 degrees, which violates the Safe Sleep for Babies Act. Additionally, the space between the seat and tray is large enough for infants to become trapped. Approximately 4,400 units were sold between 2022 and November 2024.

Wayfair is recalling Style Life Eleven baby loungers due to suffocation and fall hazards. The CPSC states that the loungers have sleeping pads that are too thick, low sidewalls that may not prevent falls, and a design that could lead to entrapment. Each lounger includes a head pillow and folds into a portable handbag. Around 1,555 units were sold from 2022 to September 2024.

Consumers are urged to stop using these products immediately and contact the manufacturers for a refund.
