Gas Boilers Recalled Following Carbon Monoxide-Related Deaths

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission and Triangle Tube have issued a recall for three gas boiler models. The recall follows reports of carbon monoxide leaks that have resulted in two fatalities.

The recall includes the Prestige Solo, Prestige Excellence, and Aerco Esteem gas boilers, which have been found to release carbon monoxide due to delayed ignition or component failures.

Two deaths have been linked to the recalled boilers—a 47-year-old woman in 2015 and an 85-year-old man in 2016. Authorities have also received 25 reports of carbon monoxide leaks associated with the affected models.

The recall affects over 60,000 boilers sold in the U.S. since 2011, with an additional 7,500 units recalled in Canada.

Consumers with the recalled boilers should contact Triangle Tube for an inspection. While waiting for service, homeowners are urged to ensure carbon monoxide alarms are operational on all residence levels. Triangle Tube is offering a free alarm to those without one.
