GM Recalls BrightDrop Zevo Electric Vans Over Steering Shaft Defect


DETROIT—General Motors has issued a recall for certain BrightDrop Zevo electric vans from the 2023 and 2024 model years due to a potential defect in the intermediate steering shaft that could lead to steering failure.

The recall affects vehicles manufactured between March 15, 2023, and July 16, 2024. GM’s investigation determined that the intermediate steering shafts may have been damaged during assembly. The shaft’s alignment feature may become dislodged due to improper alignment with the mating assembly, potentially jamming the steering knuckle and leading to a loss of steering control.

The issue was first identified on January 27, 2025, following a report from a quality assurance manager. GM has assigned part number 85576482 to the affected steering shaft.
