One Killed, One Injured in a Five-Vehicle Accident with a Charter Bus on Interstate 75 in Oakland County, California

Oakland County, Mich. – A five-vehicle collision on southbound I-75 near Sashabaw Road and M-15 Tuesday afternoon left one person dead and another injured.

The crash occurred when a charter bus, driven by a 65-year-old Flint man, was unable to stop in the right lane and struck a red pickup truck. The impact triggered a chain reaction, pushing the pickup into an SUV, which then collided with a utility truck. The utility truck was pushed into a silver pickup before the bus crashed into a semi-truck parked on the right shoulder.

The driver of the red pickup, a 67-year-old Goodrich man, was pronounced dead at the scene. The SUV driver sustained a lower-body injury and was transported to a local hospital.

The surviving family and the injured deserve answers and justice

It’s never right when a person driving,  going along their day, minding their lane, is killed or seriously hurt in an accident through no fault of their own. This is what seems to have happened here. And while we do not have all the facts yet, our decades of experience tell us that distraction, excessive speed, or driving too close behind a vehicle are the usual culprits of rear-end collisions. In some instances, other factors caused the accident, such as when a mechanical failure occurs.

If negligence or wrongdoing caused one person to lose their life and another’s injuries, the responsible party should be held accountable. Only a thorough investigation by trained professionals can help determine all the parties responsible for this terrible crash.
