SharkNinja Recalls Defective Pressure Cookers Due to Risk of Severe Burn Injuries

WASHINGTON, D.C. – SharkNinja has issued a recall of approximately 1.8 million pressure cookers following more than 100 reports of burn injuries, according to an announcement from the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission on Thursday.

The affected products include the SharkNinja Foodi OP300 Series Multi-Function Pressure Cookers, which were sold nationwide and in Canada. The recall covers about 1.85 million units in the United States and roughly 184,000 in Canada. The appliances were sold in black and feature a 6.5-quart capacity.

Officials say the pressure cookers can be opened while still pressurized, allowing hot contents to escape and creating a significant burn hazard. Of the 119 reported incidents, approximately 50 involved second- or third-degree burns, including injuries to the face and body.

The recall also applies to replacement lids for the OP300 Series that were purchased separately.

The company is facing multiple lawsuits connected to the reported injuries.
