Lane Smith and Dave Huggins Killed, and Five Injured in a Semi-truck Accident on Interstate 75 in East Ridge, Tennessee

EAST RIDGE, Tenn. – Authorities have identified the two people killed in a multi-vehicle crash on I-75 that occurred on Sunday.

East Ridge Police confirmed that 23-year-old Lane Smith of Fayetteville, Tennessee, and 61-year-old David Huggins of Dawsonville, Georgia, died as a result of the collision.

The crash involved an Amazon semi-truck and six other vehicles. The driver of the semi is accused of failing to reduce speed, triggering the chain-reaction crash.

Five people sustained critical injuries.

The semi-truck driver has been charged with reckless homicide, felony reckless endangerment, and reckless aggravated assault.
