Pedego Recalls Allegedly Defective Electric Bicycles Due to Sudden Acceleration and Crash Risk


IRVINE, California – Pedego Electric Bikes has announced a recall of select electric bicycle models after determining that an improperly manufactured electrical cable can cause the bikes to accelerate unexpectedly, creating a fall hazard for riders. The company has received reports of unexpected acceleration linked to the issue.

The recall applies to the following models:

  • Interceptor
  • Interceptor Platinum Edition
  • City Commuter
  • City Commuter Mid Drive Edition
  • City Commuter Black Edition
  • Boomerang Plus
  • Ridge Rider
  • Trail Tracker
  • Trail Tracker Gorilla Edition
  • Stretch
  • Stretch Dual Drive Edition

Model names appear on the chain guard or chain stay. All affected units feature the Pedego name on the frame and were sold in multiple colors.
