Milwaukee Tool Recalls Allegedly Defective M18 FUEL Top Handle Chainsaws Due to Risk of Laceration


WASHINGTON — Milwaukee Tool has announced a recall of its M18 FUEL 12-inch and 14-inch Top Handle Chainsaws due to a potential laceration hazard.

According to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, the chainsaw’s chain brake may fail to engage properly, increasing the risk of injury during use.

The recall applies to M18 FUEL Top Handle Chainsaws with catalog number 2826-20 and serial numbers containing an “A” as the fourth digit. Both the catalog and serial numbers can be found on the product nameplate—catalog numbers on the upper right and serial numbers on the upper left.

The recalled chainsaws are battery-operated and compatible with Milwaukee’s M18 battery system. They were sold as individual tools that included a chain, bar cover, and blade wrench, or as kits with two M18 batteries, a charger, a chain and bar cover, and a blade wrench.

Milwaukee Tool has received reports of the chain brake failing to activate, including one incident that resulted in a finger laceration.
