BCI Burke Recalls Allegedly Defective Merge Playground Climbers Due to Entrapment Hazard

WASHINGTON — BCI Burke has announced a recall of its Merge Playground Climbers after determining that a design defect poses an entrapment risk to children.

According to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, an opening created by a welded rung on the sides of the climber can trap a child’s head or body, creating a serious entrapment hazard.

The recall applies to Burke Merge metal climbers, which are components of larger playground structures used for climbing access. The name “Burke” appears on identification labels affixed to the exterior of the play structure.
