Modera Recalls Allegedly Defective Pack N Play Mattresses Due to Entrapment Hazard and Safety Standard Violation


WASHINGTON — Modera has issued a recall for its Pack N Play mattresses after determining the products pose a serious risk of injury or death from entrapment and fail to meet federal safety standards for crib mattresses.

According to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, the recalled mattresses may not fit properly in particular play yards, creating dangerous gaps between the mattresses and the play yard walls. Infants can become trapped in these spaces, leading to suffocation if their faces become pressed against the side or mattress.

The recall includes Modera “Pack N Play” Play Yard Mattresses sold in white, pink, blue, and gray. Each mattress has “Modera baby” printed on a label and features dual sides — one labeled “infant” and the other labeled “toddler.” The mattresses measure approximately 38 inches long, 26 inches wide, and 1.5 inches thick.
