VESTA.DS Recalls Allegedly Defective VST Tankless Gas Water Heaters Over Carbon Monoxide and Death Hazard


VESTA.DS has issued a recall of certain VST-brand tankless gas water heaters due to a defect that can lead to dangerous carbon monoxide exposure inside the home, posing a risk of serious injury or death.

The company reports that the exhaust duct on the affected units can crack, allowing carbon monoxide to leak into living spaces rather than venting outdoors as intended. Carbon monoxide is a colorless, odorless gas that can be fatal when inhaled in enclosed areas.

The recall applies to multiple wall-mounted residential gas models in the VST Series VT, VR, and VR Plus lines, including the following model numbers:

  • VRS-150
    • VRS-199
    • VRP-150
    • VRP-199
    • VRS Plus-150
    • VRS Plus-199
    • VRP Plus-150
    • VRP Plus-199
    • VTS-150
    • VTS-199
    • VTP-150
    • VTP-199

Model numbers are printed in bold on a white label located on the side of each unit. The heaters are metal, rectangular units and can be identified by either “VST” printed on the lower control panel or “VESTA.DS.Inc.” printed near the top.
