Tharnell Duncan Killed in Sweeper Truck Tire Blowout Accident on the President George Bush Turnpike in Dallas, Texas

DALLAS, Texas — A man was killed Thursday afternoon after a tire blowout caused his vehicle to crash and overturn on the President George Bush Turnpike, according to state officials. The crash occurred in the westbound lanes near Marsh Lane.

According to reports, an Isuzu Sweeper Truck suffered a tire blowout, veered into a concrete barrier, and overturned.

The driver, identified as 46-year-old Tharnell Duncan of Dallas, died at the scene.

No further information has been provided.

The tire must be investigated to determine if it is defective

When a commercial truck’s tire suddenly bursts, people may assume it is no one’s fault or that it is due to bad luck or chance. People need to realize that many truck accidents we continue to see across the country are not the result of bad luck; they are the direct result of defective tires.

Unfortunately, we are seeing more and more truck accidents across the country caused by defective tires. We recently handled a similar case in which an over-the-road trucker was traveling through Arizona when his tire failed just as he approached an overpass. The sudden tire failure caused the driver to lose control, and his truck careened onto the road below. This caused the tractor-trailer to explode, leading to the death of an innocent man. We helped the surviving family identify the true cause of the tire failure and held the tire manufacturer responsible for the innocent loss of life caused by its defective product.

This is only one of many examples that our firm is currently handling. We are handling cases involving defective truck tires in Arizona, California, South Carolina, Illinois, Texas, New Mexico, and Utah, among other states. This is a big problem that deserves more attention from regulators and lawyers alike. Sending a trucker across the country with tires that cannot withstand the drive is negligent and will continue to lead to severe injuries and death.

To fix this problem, we need to hold manufacturers accountable for the deaths they cause.

In this incident, the surviving family of Mr. Duncan deserves to know what caused the tire blowout. May they find the answers they need.
