Woman Seriously Injured in an Accident with a Semi-Truck on Interstate 24 in Nashville, Tennessee

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — A woman suffered serious injuries Friday morning when a tractor-trailer struck the rear of a white BMW sedan on I-24 East near the Thompson Lane/Briley Parkway interchange. The crash occurred when a tractor-trailer struck the rear of a white BMW sedan.

Authorities say the female passenger in the BMW was transported to the Medical Center with serious injuries. The driver told officers he was trying to move onto the shoulder due to a flat tire when the semi-truck hit the vehicle.

No further information is currently available.

Did the truck driver maintain a safe distance from the vehicle ahead of them?

Anyone’s car can get a flat tire on the road, leaving occupants vulnerable. That is why all drivers, especially those operating commercial trucks, must leave enough space to react safely to stopped or disabled vehicles ahead.

Truck drivers should always maintain a safe distance and anticipate hazards ahead. So what went wrong here?

After handling cases like this for decades, one pattern is clear: trucking companies will often try to deflect blame onto the occupants of the disabled vehicle rather than accept responsibility. That is not only unfair, but it is also unjust. Commercial trucks must be operated with heightened caution and properly inspected before they go on the road. If that did not happen here, they owe the family answers.

The injured woman and her family should not have to face added pressure from insurance carriers or companies unwilling to accept responsibility. During such a vulnerable time, the proper legal support can shield them from corporate tactics and allow them to focus on what matters most — recovering and moving forward while holding those responsible accountable.

My hope is that all the facts about what went wrong come to light. Above all, we hope the injured woman here makes a full and swift recovery.
