Kevin Brendle Killed in an Accident with an Amazon Truck that Failed to Stop on Interstate 75 in Dayton, Ohio

DAYTON, Ohio — Authorities have determined that an Amazon semi-truck was at fault in a multi-vehicle crash that killed a 34-year-old man on Interstate 75. The incident happened on a Wednesday afternoon. The collision involved two semi-trucks, a work truck, and a work van.

According to reports, the Amazon semi was traveling north when it approached slowed traffic and struck the rear of a work van driven by 34-year-old Kevin Brendle. Brendle sustained fatal injuries in the crash.

The impact caused a chain reaction involving the other vehicles.

The family of the deceased deserves answers

One of the golden rules in the trucking world is to maintain a safe following distance from the vehicle ahead. The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) states that, at speeds over 40 mph, truckers should maintain a minimum of 5 seconds between their vehicle and the vehicle ahead. So what went wrong here? Why wasn’t the trucker able to maintain a safe distance, allowing for faster reaction times in case of a sudden stop? Something went terribly wrong here.

Also, collisions involving corporate trucks like Amazon can get complicated—fast. From our decades of experience handling cases like this one, we know there will be a lot of finger-pointing to shift and minimize blame.

This cannot happen. A man with so much ahead of him had his life tragically cut short, and his family deserves answers. But it takes seasoned attorneys who have dealt with corporate companies to help hold them accountable to the extent the family deserves and is entitled to by law.

We hope Mr. Brendle’s surviving family finds the answers they need.
