Toyo and Nitto Recall More Than 36,000 Allegedly Defective Truck and SUV Tires Due to Tread Separation Risk


CYPRESS, Calif. — Toyo Tires is recalling 36,919 truck and SUV tires after determining that a manufacturing contamination issue may cause the tread to separate from the tire, creating a heightened risk of a crash. Tread separation can cause drivers to lose control of their vehicles.

The recall covers 64 tire types and sizes from both the Toyo and Nitto brands. Affected Nitto models include the Crosstek 2/LT, Dura Grappler, Exo Grappler, Mud Grappler Extreme, Recon Grappler, Ridge Grappler, Terra Grappler G3, and Trail Grappler in various sizes. The recall also applies to Toyo Open Country A/T, Open Country H/T, Open Country M/T, and Open Country R/T products.

According to the company, the defective tires were manufactured over a two-day period, January 23 and January 24, 2025.
