Werner Paddles Recalls Allegedly Defective Stealth and Covert Kayak Paddles Due to Risk of Drowning


WASHINGTON — Werner Paddles has announced a recall of its Stealth and Covert kayak paddles after reports that the paddles may break during use, posing a potential drowning hazard.

According to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, the recall includes black carbon fiber paddles labeled “Werner” on both blades, with the model name printed on the right paddle blade. The affected products are the Stealth and Covert models.

Werner Paddles has received approximately 80 reports of paddles breaking during use if a paddle fails while in the water, it can increase the risk of drowning, particularly in challenging conditions.
